It’s so clear through the many Bible verses about children how much Jesus loved and valued little ones. How can we not follow His example?

Jesus Loves the Little Children

Jesus loves the little children. We know this is true, but in the busyness of taking care of our kids never ending needs we often forget what a precious and incredible responsibility we’ve been given as parents. Our focus becomes dealing with the needs of the moment. And the responsibility of caring for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs can feel overwhelming.

Maybe that’s because we forget we aren’t the only ones who love our kids—who want the best for them. Long before our babies were born, God’s hand was at work in their lives. Psalm 139:13–16 says,

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

How to Remember Jesus’ Love with Bible Verses About Children

How can we get in the right mindset during the day-to-day craziness of parenting? What can we do to keep first things first? How can we keep our focus on the “good portion” like Jesus encouraged Martha to do? Sometimes the best solutions are actually quite simple.

Place a reminder where you’ll see it often.

It’s easy to forget what isn’t right in front of us. So many things distract us. We can see this principle at work in God’s instructions to the Israelites.

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates—Deuteronomy 6:4–9.

You can remind yourself of God’s Word by keeping bible verses about children where you will see them often.

Keep First Things First with Bible Verses About Children

Raising little ones to know and love God starts with the right focus. Following Jesus’ example and keeping our eyes on the most important thing doesn’t have to be difficult. Placing God’s Word before us daily is a gentle reminder of a simple truth:

1 John says, “We love because he first loved us.” Placing Bible verses about children before our eyes shows us that we love our children because He first loved them.
